I have had one for a year and can't understand why Ford thought that heavy tailgate slamming down and crushing everything in its path was a good idea. The imports all have them standard, hope the new F150's have them. It is one of the best additions I have added to the truck.

In the winter, with ice and snow buildup, the slamming tailgate just crushes the ice/snow, to the detriment of the paint job on the tailgate. Not so anymore with this...

However my only problem, over time the pivot that attaches to the inside of the tailgate opening tends to loosen over time. I am not ready to put heavy duty Loctite on it yet, but I am close.

I have had it for my last two F150s and I think there GREAT and helpful. No Slamming of the tail gate comming down.Ford should make it a standard feature.

I just put one of these on this past weekend. I like it except for the hokey foam thing. I'm going to re-engineer that somehow. Looks like ****.

Have you ever owned a pickup before? Every single one will "slam down" if you let if just fall. Ford actually made there's super easy to put back up back in 2004, I forget about it until I use somebody elses tailgate.
Those of you that have this, what difference is there in putting it back up?

i put one on my '07 f150 last fall and i like it. easy to open the tailgate when your arms are full, and not having to worry about it slamming down. other people who have opened my tailgate and didn't know it was on there were like WOW that's cool, did that come from the factory? neat mod for what little it cost.
