Just a quick update, I am getting some help on affording this and this is the motor they suggest and are leaning toward. Anyone have any experience with Fraser? It would be the "Fraser Advantge" option that looks like it has some fixes for the phaser and other problems that plague these motors. Plus a 5 yr unlimited mile warranty.

Well you can read their google reviews and get a feel as to the satisfaction of previous customers and I'd make DAMN sure all the parts they add are Ford OEM and not some garbage Doorman or Amazon Chinese parts that will fail right away and leave you with a rod sticking out your block.

Also do some solid research as to their warranty cause some places will fight you tooth and nail to repair anything even if it's 100% written in the warranty they will just claim it was installed improperly or some BS like that.

Keep us updated please

Ok. Engine is bought and should be delivered in 1 to 2 days. Went with the Fraser Advantage fully loaded option. Updated cam phasers, timing chains, tensioner guide, high pressure oil pump, and build with stronger internals. Includes upgraded valve covers, spark plugs, vvt solenoids, oil pan, and timing covers. A little over $4,000 shipped to the shop. Has the 5 year unlimited mile warranty. I hope to be up and running in about 2 to 3 weeks.

Why 2-3 weeks?

There's tons of shade tree wrench turners here who can swap an engine in a weekend on their driveway so a good shop taking 2-3 weeks seems kinda nuts.

Also what are they quoting you for doing the swap?

Cheers

All shops in the Memphis area are super swamped right now, the first place said they couldn't even look at it for a month. I'm taking it to a friend's shop that said he could get it done quick, but I just said 2-3 so I don't disappoint myself, haha. It'll be $1500 labor.

Before install, I'd take the extra time to remove cover and check out that the parts that you were told would be used, were actually used. However, if they just told you things like 'updated', or 'OEM or OEM equivalent', etc. then there won't be any recourse. Did they indicate use of motorcraft parts, and/or explicitly say what brand/model parts were used? Its typically tough to get rebuilder/resellers to give specific info. But by checking, at least you will know whats in there.

They didn't specify what brand parts they use. But the shop it is at is a good shop run by a family friend and he has used them before. I know he wouldn't suggest anything subpar. But I am sure he will check it out before he installs it. I wish I could get my hands on it and look around myself, but I'm not in a position to be able to do anything right now.

I’m in the same situation, I’m waiting to pull the trigger on purchasing a reman engine for my 2008 rust free Lariat

Was the engine delivered within the promised window of 1 to 2 days?
