Default Engine misfiring.....HELP!

I was on my way back from upstate NY this afternoon, and almost 4 hours into the trip, my engine light starts blinking and I noticed that the engine seems to be running really rough.

After getting it off the highway, the engine light is still blinking and it feels like a loss of power and a really rough, misfiring idle. Also, smoke coimng out of the tailpipe when taking off from a light and a gas smell. The owners manual says the blinking light means it is misfiring.

I got it back to my buddy's house and turned it off. About 20 minutes later, I go to start it back up and it doesn't start at all. I had to get it towed to the shop up the street.

Anyone encounter this or hear of it? Plugs maybe?

ANY help is really appreciated!!

Arrow running rough

With my experince with the 4.6 and 5.4s if you live in a wet part of the country moisture tends to make its way down into the spark plug holes an corrode the spark plug boots. The best way to fix this is to replace the plugs and boots and install them with die electric grease this will keep the water form corroding the plugs.

The mechanic has told me there are two bad fuel injectors that he will have to replace. Until he can get them, that is all he knows.

How does this sound to everyone??

What year is the truck? What size motor? I know that my 05 5.4 has an extended warranty from ford on the injectors. They are known to stick wide open and hydrolock the motor.

It sounds like injectors to me. That is what I thought while I was reading it. Same thing happened to me two years ago and I was stuck in Columbia, SC for two days while they (Ford) put in three new injectors and reseated all the rest.

That sucks dude, sorry to hear that. Was it injectors? I have heard the the 05's have an extended warranty out on the injectors. I wonder if it might include 06's too, if it was in fact injectors...
