5.4l 3v 2004 lariat screw 4x4 120k miles

Truck was running fine then today after a 27 mile drive to work I was getting off the freeway and hit the break to disengage cruise and I heard a ticking. Upon complete stop it stalled. Started back up and was fine. When I pulled into my work parkinglot a mile later the ticking started back up. It's coming from pass side one of the front two cylinders. Checked oil, needs changed but fine other than that. Oil cap shows signs of water....what is wrong eha do I need to do...help please!

Might be a loose coil or plug. I had a plug back back out a little and the tick sounded like a lifter.

Can you check for any fault codes stored? Did you see the CEL come on at any time?

Ticking could be lots of things, so best to establish all that you know....and work from there.

If the oil needs to be changed, do that asap, with 5w20 oil and only a Motorcraft filter.

Plugs were mentioned, check the torque or maybe they are due to be changed.

Have you disconnected the battery recently?

I would check the coils and boots, they can make a ticking/slapping noise.

Does it do it when the engine is cool or only hot after a long drive?

Im curious if it has low oil pressure

Well I just got out of work and did it when I first started and calmed down...right now it just sounds like the cam phaser issue
