Edge programmer ecomony
So I just put in my new edge programmer on my 2005 f150 5.4. And it seems like the fuel economy didn't change much. But I wa going by the stock reader and the mpg on the edge interface. It actually seems like the "stock" setting has the best over "transmission". Is there more to it that I'm missing. Or is that the best to expect?
Welcome to the wonderful world of tuning. First, the Edge display and stock reader are about the worst ways to calculate mileage. They do their best, but most of the time are off 1-2 mpgs. Calculating at fillup by hand is the most accurate we can do here in the real world.
The "transmission" setting is just that. Alterations to shifting is the only difference from the the stock PCM tune. Mileage gains usually aren't seen solely due to firmer shifts. Level 2 "tow" mode is what most with the Edge use as a daily driver tune. It changes fuel trims and shifting. It does a good job for city driving, but still does not guarentee mileage gains.
If you want a better chance at mileage gains, look to getting custom tunes if it is a CS/CTS or a full Gryphon conversion and custom tunes if it is the monochrome style. A custom tune gives the best chance at mileage gains. No tune or device can ensure gains beyond power.

I was curious about that upgrade with mine tuner. Does it give custom tunes for an "economy" setting and a custom for performance. I also don't know where to find that company on the Internet. But I do love it soo far.
It really depends on your driving habits and environment. I get the best results, power and economy, with the level 2 towing mode. You should experiment between the levels and see which works best for you. I have AMPG displayed and it is consistently 2 - 4 miles lower than the actual mileage that I calculate by hand. It shows 14-15 and I get 17-18. When the weather improves and I start longer trips I will experiment with some of the other options. Any way you look at it it is a neat product. For maximum fuel economy, you should choose a performance calibration, and most people will use a performance tune as their daily driver. Our performance tunes provide aggressive fuel curve and timing curve changes to help maximize efficiency and performance -- not just at full-throttle, but throughout the entire throttle and RPM range.
Fuel economy gains rely greatly on driving style.

So here is a question. A guy a work said he put a tuner on his BMW (I know there is a difference between that and ford). But he said that I should put a voltage stabilizer on because the tuners burnt up his alternator. What do u guys think...?
There is no way a programmer can burn up the alternator. "Chips" that interfere with the ECU maybe. A programmer works through PCM flashing. It simply stores and replaces the stock tune with the strategy from the programmer.

I have my edge tuned a little different. I have it on tow mode, but i adjusted the torque convertor lock settings dropping 4th gear at -4 and 3rd gear to -2. It seems to keep the lower RPM's longer and not unlock as much letting my RPM's fly up going up hills... I also adjusted my timing by +.50, every truck is different, but you can make small increments up in timing and see how your truck likes it. I was getting 10-12 mpgs before installing the Edge, now after i've been romping on it all the time and and letting the RPM's sore as if it was a standard. Believe me, the edge is reading like 15 mpgs and when i fill it up i imagine thats pretty close just by watching my gas gauge. I can only imagine what i get if i get off the gas more. I've been thinking also about adjusting my first gear shift at MPH, so i can get into 2nd gear sooner...
Also, i belive you can change your 3-4 shift point MPH to negitive numbers to allow an earlier shift to 4th gear.

Do you have an exhaust or CAI ?? Take it to level 3 and customize the settings...I see a big diff in MPG
All i have different is a cherry bomb exhaust.. Meaning cut off stock muffler replaced with glass pack... nothing more..
