Are there any good side by side shots of stock lights compared to projector lights? I would like to install the projectors to make better use of my HIDs, but from what I see, the stock lights look better.

Stock lights look better appearance wise or are you talking look better in light spread?

I've been fascinated with HID's when they JUST started coming out.

HID's are WORLDS better than halogen lights. But that's not what you're asking? Sounds like got HID bulbs in stock lights. From what I've always heard, and this is just what I have deduced, you will do a bit better on how the projectors aim the light. They wont make your HIDs any brighter, because fact is they are putting out the same light. The projectors will put the light down and spread it better.

The best thing is, it's FAR better for oncoming drivers. I've seen my fair share of HID in stock housing and it just isn't any fun. Not to mention in contrast to what the buyer of them things, it actually looks cheap and half assed.

Side story. My wifes mazda 3 had projectors. Instantly put 6k HIDs and love it.

I am actually more concern with their physical appearance on the truck. I have HIDs in the stock housings and they are pretty poor and would like to upgrade to projector lens, but so far, the ones I've seen, don't have a very appealing look.
I have installed HIDs in my M3 (projector) C5 (halogen housings) C6 (projector) and 08 F150 (halogen housings) and the ONLY issue is the truck.

I would love to get some photos of stock and projector lights side by side

Projector Retrofits

If done correctly, they can be made to look amazing.

Also, you actually CAN get better performance by using projectors. There are high end bulbs available for certain projectors that'll outperform any H13 bulbs you can buy for a PnP kit.

I've toyed with the idea many times on the vehicles I've had to do a retrofit but just cant bring myself to do it. I may someday, but the F150 would be the FIRST vehicle I've owned (out of 5) that actually has projector headlights you can buy all over.

Anyhow, not to get off topic!!....

Those look pretty good

sdatrlp;

Are those to different types shown uninstalled?

I had not really looked at the blacked out ones, but with my truck being black, maybe that would look better.
I also THINK I would like an LED row over the angle eyes. I have AE's on my M3, and to me, they just seem to fit a smaller vehicle better than a large truck. In fact, that's the entire issue I have, is while the projector lenses look good on a small vehicle, they seem to look out of place on larger ones...
I guess this is like any other mod (lift kits, loud exhaust) you don't really know if you like it until its installed, and then it too late

If you get a larger projector or shroud it fills in the large bowl on the F150s pretty well. There are a lot of options on how to get them setup. I would use a FX-R projector if I redid it. There is a little more cutting involved, but a decent increase in light as well.
Peruse this thread for some more ideas.
