changed my plugs today
at 135k it was starting to get not so great gas mileage so i broke down and bought a set of plugs today. i checked and made sure the parts house had the lisle tool just in case. i got home and pulled them hot with no lube. they all came out fine but i was worried about the last two because they felt funny(engine was cooling down i guess) so i sprayed a little PB in on them.
the only problems i had was getting all the dirt out of the holes before i pulled the plugs, some had so much i couldnt get the socket to grip. but a screwdriver and compressed air fixed that.
i have been running seafoam or gumout regain or b12 almost every other tank the last 10k hoping to break up the carbon. i also seafoamed the engine threw a vacuum hose a few weeks back. hats off to these additives because the carbon on the plugs was minimal!!! i would suggest anyone planning a tune up to run a few tanks of seafoam first
one of the easier tune ups i have done it took 1hr 20 mins from the time i pulled up in the driveway till i left for the test drive.
ill post pics of the plugs later

i used mc and they were $8 a piece. they are the same plugs gator used, redesigned from the oe. and copper antisieze on the plugs. i figured 135k on a set of plugs aint that bad, i hope i get 100k out of these
i just want to say i have only done one of these before and i was ignorant of the issues and pulled them hot. not one broke.
then BIGBLOCKOBS said he has had best luck pulling them hot. and even tho a few people went off on him i figured there was some truth to it because it worked for me before.
he also gave me some good tips about bad alternators causing cam sensor codes.
thank you BIGBLOCKOBS

oh ya tools
i used a 1/4" drive set to remove the coils
3/8" stubby and reg ratchet
1/2" microtough ratchet with 3/8 adapter
3/8" extensions 3" 6" and 9"
9/16 spark plug socket
i did not pull the cpu
some i had to put the ext and socket in and then put the ratchet on
and it seems like i was switching ratchets and ext alot for different clearance issues
the 1/2" micro tough and adapter is perfect when you need just one more inch to clear wire loom or whatever. and its great when you dont have any room to swing because of the tight teeth.
on the rear two pass side i used one ratchet to break them loose and a stubby to get them out.
the first time i did one it took me 4 hrs. this time it was only an hr or so because i knew what tools i needed and how to do it.
i wish i worked at a stealership and got paid craploads of money to change them!!
