Default Cam Phaser Question

Hey guys so I have an 05 5.4 just so you know. Runs really good to be honest and had the spark plugs changed and shes a champ.

Now my issue I have is i THINK I am hearing the tick from the cam phasers, but the truck hasnt slowed down or anything and feels great. Do you guys think its the cam phasers having issues?

If it is, but the truck is running great do I even bother looking into getting this done??

Does it appear only when warm?
does it appear only when cold?
Where about is the tick coming from? Any way you could post a video?
Could be exhaust manifold tick, could be injector tick, could be a tick from improperly torqued or low quality spark plugs, could also be a mild phaser tick or maybe even a lifter.

Sounds like perhaps the passenger manifold issue. There is no doubt when they sound bad. There is also a quiet tick that is the injectors firing. The exhaust leak noise will go away when it gets warm, for awhile. My exhaust manifold is loud, my phaser noise is loud, and the truck still runs great. I think they run well until they don't.

I took it to my mechanic today bc i am getting the break fluids changed, and putting a fabtech lift today. I mentioned to him the noise and he said possibly a lifter. He recommended trying 20w 50 oil so i may try that. Everyone here seems to run 5w 20, so ill try this if not switch over.

The tick by the way is consistent, when warm or cold, but doesnt really get loud or anything.

Can you post a video for us? From your description I would guess it is just the noisy injectors which is perfectly common with the 5.4 2v
