Bed Lighting
do you have a test light or a volt meter? very easy to test if you have full time power or not. I have not ordered mine yet so I don't know what they include. Personally I think I'll use a 2 wire "cord" and go to the battery or fuse box with both. You could tie to the wire that go to the "ground" at the plug for the trailer if you wanted. I have not had mine apart and don't really want to break the seal back there as I live in "salt" country. corrosion from road salt is pretty tuff on that area of a truck.
The 4 z ones I bought are rather simple. I have a volt tester and as soon as I find a relay I will test it, the uHaul guys tested it but with that slot in the fuse panel being empty so I need the relay
Ok do after some personal life issues I spent all day working on these lights again.......and I am SO STUMPED!!!
I decided that I am going to run a fused wire from the battery to the back, would love to go thru the fire wall, inside the cab and under the door sill and then to the back...but I cannot find a way thri the firewall and so I decided to just go all the way under the truck, I bought some of that plastic wire cover so it is weather proof, then I ran into another issue.....I cannot find a good, clean route for the to run it. I keep running into moving parts and peices (like the muffler) that I need to stay away from.
I then decided that I would somehow go from the battery side to the divers side and zip tie to the factory wiring that comes out under that drivers door area, but I still cannot find a good route from the battery to that area..............
HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess as a last ditch effort (I want to be done today) I might just tap into a wire and forget the in line fuse from the battery. Not how I wanted to do it but hey, I am too stupid to figure it out
Prime, for as long as you've been messing with this, wouldn't it make more sense to spend $50 and have some professional do it for you? Any reputable car audio shop should be able to do it in less than an hour.
Well I just finished installing my 4Z Bed lights . I bought two,and upgraded the lights to a 6 lamp LED 42MM man are they Bright. Bought them in Hong Kong for $3.00 each shipped right to my door. Bouhgt them off of Ebay. THey are $14.00 each in the US.
I went over board with this install but it was a fun project. What I did was install a little remote control on the Inside of the Drivers side Fender just infront of the rad overflow. Ran a hot wire from the battery through the Hood weather stripping over to the drivers side to the controler . Picked up a groung right there and with some plastic ties tied the antenna to the over flow hose from the rad. Fed the ground for the lights and hot wire down in front of the fire wall and slipped them into hanging brackets that are there for a brake line, they fit perfect and are secure. I then came up behind the cab under my topper and hooked them to my lights. It turned out to be a wonderful neet and tidy wire job. You really have to look hard to see how the lights are hooked up. My remote works 100 ft away.
My wife thinks I am nuts but that is all right it is fun these little jobs and besides you can't take your money with you.
Now I can turn my lights on or off when I want and with the little togle on off switch on the lights you have built in safety so you don't run down your battery. Just flip the light off if you want. THese are nice little lights that you can do a lot of things with.
