Default Automatic Headlights Not Working

I searched and faound minimal. I saw people talking about blown fuses, which one controls that? the headlight fuse, nothing in my manual says anything specific for the automated headlights. I checked all 5 amp fuses and none were blown. My fog lights and parking lights are the only thing that work automatically. Headlights work only by manually turning.

Thanks in advance!

If fog and parking lites work in auto, I would think the lites would also. Tell you what, give us the year and model, perhaps someone with the wiring diagram can then help you.

It is an '05 Lariat Crewcab 4x4. I read some posts that said they were experiencing fuses that were blowing. I did not find anything that specified a fuse for the auto lamps in the manual. I pulled all the 5 amp fuses and none were blown.

Thanks

That's a strange one. All the lights work on Manual but only the fogs and parking lamps work on auto right?

Yes, the only way I can get the headlights to come on is to turn the switch all the way to the right.

Just checked my 02 manual, yes a 5 amp fuse, position 29 for auto headlamps. Don't have system on mine to offer up any other help. Good luck and talk later.

I checked all fuses, nothing blown. The "eye" detects light and dark correctly, I can hear the relay engaging, but when it does - same result, only parking lights and fog lights come on, no headlights. Its as if the headlight bulbs are burned out, but they aren't?? Frustrating!!

It may be in the switch, if not i would think there would have to be a relay involved that has a bad circut in it.

From the research I have been doing it sounds like it is the VSM (vehicle security module). From what I gather that is located on the back wall of the cab behind the seats. Looking at the back seats, what is the best method, or how difficult is it to get the back seats out? Does anyone know for sure if that is where the VSM is located?

Nevermind, I just found some links regarding removal.

Thanks.

Did you verify the highs and lows work in manual? Hate to see the highs selected in manual and the auto trying to turn on the burned out low beams.
