Automatic Headlights Not Working
I am experiencing this very same problem. I have a 2004 F150 Lar. 4x4 SCrew. My truck just started experiencing the problem in December of 2009. I believe it may be intermittent.
The problem:
With Auto Lamps set on, only the fog lights and parking lamps power on, no head lights. I can turn the **** to low beam and pull out on it to turn on fog lights and all works fine. Just not in the Auto position.
Question:
How did Yenrod correct the problem and has anyone else experienced this problem.
Thanks in advanced for any advice you can give.
Chad

I searched and faound minimal. I saw people talking about blown fuses, which one controls that? the headlight fuse, nothing in my manual says anything specific for the automated headlights. I checked all 5 amp fuses and none were blown. My fog lights and parking lights are the only thing that work automatically. Headlights work only by manually turning.
Thanks in advance!

I had not had the time to mess with it, so I have been operating in manual mode.
All,
This is what I ended up finding: a short in the massive wire bundle that runs down the channel of the driver's door (removing mouldings and carpet). Mine happened to be located almost directly under the hood release lever (where the wires start to turn/bend upwards toaproach behind dash/firewall transitions.

You can pry up both driver's side plastic door sills and carefully examine the wires to see if any look unusual (broken rusted, or burned). If they all look good, then the problem is likely with the BCM (located behind the back of the rear seat). Water entering around the sliding rear window could have caused a problem with one of its connectors. Or, the problem could be the BCM itself.
Considering the difficulty of removing the back of the rear seat and the high cost of replacing the BCM, you may opt to turn the headlights on manually.

Has anyone else heard of this issue? I'm the original owner, have almost 200K miles, and my truck has been through some stuff (fives teens driving it, three learning to drive, mudding, driving through a creek {by a teen, of course}, hauling stuff, going on a RV trail, etc). Just looking to see if I can get a confirmation from anyone else that the autolights could be the source of my parasitic drain on m battery.
Thanks in advance!!
Have you tried to see if you bumped the roll dial beside the other light handles? Also, you’re aware that you turn the **** to the right & for your fogs then pull out that **** to turn on those lights? That roll dial got me one time. Guess I bumped it, got it out of normal position nothing seemed to work right…
I know your probably aware of those things but, if not your fix is simple…
