Default additional lights

Hi friends,

please forgive me I am new...

I just bought my first F150 XLT 2007 last friday. I would like to add fog lights (LED is possible and allowed) to it.

That's my car: http://s3.postimg.org/uf1ch3r0z/Phot...7_55_08_PM.jpg

This is my first pickup and also my first car here in the US (I moved over from Germany) and I don't have any experience what is possible and allowed.

I was wondering where would be the best position to add some lights.
Also, is it allowed to use additional lights added to the car on-streeet?

Thank you for sharing your experience.

Do you want to use these lights on the street, with other drivers around or are you looking for additional light in backwoods/backroad conditions?

I was looking for lights that I can use on the street with other drivers around me.

Maybe fog lights or something similar?

Tell me what you are trying to do with your lights? Are you looking for genuine fog lights? Like lights that you actually need because you drive in lots of fog?
This will help us steer you in a direction that's best for you and your truck.
Where do you live (state/province) and I'll let you know the regs regarding on road usage.
Nice truck by the way Mike! Looking clean

Living in Germany for a few years myself, I can say that Germany was very strict with what was allowed lights wise (and other automotive modifications) then here in the U.S. I always appretiated the strict laws in Germany; it "considered" other drivers who share the roads.

Seems in the U.S., folks think its "cool" to blind others they share the road with, and have little to no regard for any laws they may be breaking. Many states have dropped their vehicle inspections requirements, so these modifications get done by owners without worry.

Thanks for being considerate about other drivers though. Its appretiated.

You are absolutely right. Thats why I am asking. In Germany street laws were much different than here in the US.

I will try to describe it:

I am looking for lights that I can use while I am driving on the street. So they must be allowed and not disturb other drivers. The lights also should be helpful in fog conditions. I want to mount them in the bumper hole area somewhere. In Germany we have something like "day-drive-lights". Is it also allowed to turn the fog lights ON when there is no fog?

From the optics maybe something like this:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EA0...QL&ref=plSrch#

I live in NC Mooresville area. Thats 30 minutes north from Charlotte.

Thank you guys for your help

If placed low (where fog lights are supposed to be for creating the best fog penetration and visability), you'd be fine. Running them during the day would be useless (again, if installed and intended for fog lights).

There are also "day time" driving lights, but they are part of the headlight system, and these are not intended for fog lights (too high up).

Does the N.C. DOT (department of transportation) have a web site that would describe what is/is not allowed in the way of fog lights?

I have to check if they describe something about fog lights there.

I found a similar thread there: https://www.f150forum.com/f4/install...e-hole-302341/

I was looking for something like this. As Im said, not sure if thats allowed.

And you are right. I want to use them while driving in fog conditions as well as "day lights"

I would like to connect them that when I open the car they switch in automatically. I think this should be not a problem right?

Sorry for that manny questions but I want to do everything right...

Mike, the LED lights found in this link are all fine to use around other drivers on the streets. They are more expensive than average lighting, but worth the expense. You may need to fabricate brackets to make these work on your vehicle though.

Yes they look nice, but not sure if I want to spent that much money.

Whats with these guys here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00EA0...QL&ref=plSrch#

Would that be ok? It says off-road in the description so I dont know it they are allowed if I mount them low (where fog lights are)?
