Default Adding Acetone to Gasoline

A coworker of mine recommended I add about 1 fluid ounce of acetone to each 10gallons of gasoline to improve MPGs, clean the fuel line, burn the fuel better. I tried this on an 1988 chevy 1500 and it seemed to improve MPGs. But I have no significance data/results to prove this.

additionally, he also said adding a little automatic transmission fluid to each tank will also help lubricate moving parts along the way. (I didn't do this)

Was wondering if anyone else has heard or done this and any conclusions you've come up with?

Your co-worker is an idiot. Let him ruin his truck. Don't ruin yours.

Can you say, "fouling out plugs"? How about clogged catalytic converter? Or bad O2 sensor? Or clogged fuel injectors? How about melting your gaskets and hoses?

As a furniture restorer, I get to work with acetone quite a bit. This is POWERFUL stuff!!! It can eat through plastics and rubber like a hot knife through butter!

Stop and ask yourself....... If it's so good for the motor, why aren't they selling gasoline/acetone/ATF pre-mixed at the pump? BECAUSE IT WILL ROYALLY F-UP YOUR CAR!!!

Do I sense a little bit of sarcasm here?

A tad bit of ATF does the same thing as Seafoam. It's a detergent. Maybe a half bottle for an entire fill up every few months won't do anything.

As for acetone, my grandpa used to run pure paint thinner/acetone for fuel in his demo cars, I always wished I could pull the heads off of one of those engines to see how big of a hole was in the piston.

I think he should run straight acetone. Maybe add a little butyl acetate, throw in some butyl cellusolve. While you're at it, throw in some methyl amyl keytone and some methyl ethyl keytone. Don't forget about a cup of corn squeezins' and lard fer good measure.

That'll clean her up. Right good!!!
