BTW, the engine is actually manufactured by AER out of DFW...... They also manufacture engines sold under Ford's logo....😉
Didn't think so.

Very interesting and good to know!

So I emailed them and asked about the cam phasers and ignition coils. The engine for $2799 has "reclaimed" cam phasers, and then there is another engine not listed for $3099 which has new OEM cam phasers.
Both include the spark plugs, but not coils.

Here is the way it was explained to me.....

I had concerns about "reclaimed" phasers myself, for obvious reasons. I had made the determination to go as close to 100% as was possible. So I had a fairly in depth conversation with PS regarding the phasers. Here's what I was told.....

They "reclaim" the phasers by remanufacturing older phasers to the upgraded phasers.... exactly as they do the engine itself. The reclaimed phaser is tested to the same tolerances as new. The PS rep told me that they've had virtually zero problems with the reclaimed phasers and that he'd save the $300 if it were him and spend it somewhere else in the rebuild. They're also 100% guaranteed under the terms of the warrantee. So I decided to save $300 and put it to use elsewhere in the "remanufacture" of the drive train.

Ahh ok. That makes me feel better. I would way rather spend the $300 elsewhere, like the ignition coils I'll have to buy since I have an 04 engine.

Do you know if the same injectors can be used in the 08 engine? I'd prefer to buy new ones, but since this is unexpected I'm trying to keep costs as low as possible and would prefer to replace them in a few months or so instead.

Thanks. I'll look more into it.
That $300 will be well spoken for with those damn ignition coils. They're so damn spendy. From what I can see, it's looking around $500 for the Motorcraft DG-521s.

Or I get cheaper Accel or MSD coils and new injectors.
And replace the coils with OEM as needed if they fail.

Hello Slicefixer & Slug71,

Just a 'point of clarification'; I did order my PS engine with the OEM phasers and No Fault warranty.

When I ordered my engine, the memory of the constant noise and intermittent violent shaking of the whole truck, was still etched into my brain.

The original engine, NEVER, sounded as quiet/good as this re-manufactured engine.

As possibly is the case for both of you, this truck is my 'daily driver' and I wanted it to be as reliable as possible.

I hope you both provide updates (and lots of pics!!), of your engine replacements.

I wish the best for both of you... you're going through fun part right now; ordering all the new parts and building the engine as you see fit.

My engines installed and going great guns at present! I've driven about 250 miles to date, it's smooth and quiet as it gets. I can also tell it's MUCH more powerful even keeping the RPM's below 3000, etc. Also, I run torque pro at all times and I had 5 misfires (upon start up) the first drive cycle, but, zero since. Amazing difference.....👍

Thank you again for going to all the trouble to thoroughly document your experience. I sure do appreciate all your efforts!
