Default 07 to 08 Engine Replacement- Powersource

Good morning All,

This is my first post, but I have been a long-time lurker. At 192K miles, my engine has the "diesel condition". I decided to replace the engine with a re-manufactured one from Powersource. With the recommendations of this forum, I ordered an '08 version. I am expecting delivery today, to my mechanics shop. I will be taking photos of 'as-received; condition and through-out the whole engine replacement process.

I will be installing JBA Shorty headers, Magnaflow exhaust (per my mechanics recommendation) and other upgrades "while I am in there"..

I look forward to any advice you can additionally provide and hopefully help others that are considering engine replacement.

Here we go...

Thank you, Chuck

Thanks Czuber for the heads-up. How has your Powersource engine performed so far?

Here are some pics of the delivery and engine...

Your help is appreciated Czuber.

Here are photos of delivery and engine (to confirm, the engine is a 5.4 3V)...

I am sending it to Powersource, to receive my $500.00 'core deposit' back.

The engine did arrive earlier today in good condition.

Note All - I have tried to upload photos (twice), of delivery and engine, but they are no where to be found.

I'm three oil changes in and so far motor is running as described. I would have them replace the Knock sensors as well. there are two of them on top of the block. worth another 50.00 to do it now.

This from my older post.
http://www.psengines.com/

New Reman Motor - Power Souce out of Memphis TN I went with them based off user reviews and the BBB reviews and rating. My Mechanic was very impressed with the engine and company.

F Series truck, Expedition. Three valve heads. Includes timing cover, oil pan and valve covers installed. Built with NEW OEM cam phasers 3149 Free Shipping Both Ways
3 yr 100,000-mile warranty.

Extras I added for peace of mind
New AC Condenser recommended by the mechanic
New water pump
New Belts, hoses etc.

Out the door parts (3149.00 Engine) and labor of 1700 and about 400 in extra parts for 5462.00
My Motor looks like yours. Good Luck

Czuber... The recommendation about knock sensors and well wishes are appreciated - Thanks!

What were your oil change intervals? Are you getting better gas mileage? Do you wish you had changed anything else while-you-were-in-there?

To specify (as I have not up until this point), I do have a 5.4 engine, and like you, I ordered the Powersource re-manufactured engine, with the OEM phasers.

Additionally, I ordered a '08 engine to replace my '07 engine, per recommendations from other threads on this forum.

I will be installing JBA Titanium coated 'Shorty" headers, with Stage 8 Locking Fasteners... again with recommendations from previous forum threads.

Per my mechanics recommendation I am installing a Magnaflow muffler. As this truck is my 'daily driver', I requested the quietest one available. Once type/part number is confirmed, I will note for reference.

I will have more pics in the next couple of days; if there is anything specific that may be helpful to anyone, let me know, and I will do my best to accommodate your request.

Thanks, Chuck

UPDATE...

The original engine is out! The replacement engine will have the headers installed tomorrow and many other new replacement parts.

I should be back on the road next week.

I do have a question for those of you that are much more informed than I..

-How can I tell visually that I actually received an '08 engine?

-Per the the rear differential photos, is it limited-slip?

Thanks for any information that you can provide
