07 to 08 Engine Replacement- Powersource
Mine is on the way.....
Thank you for all the information you so generously provided in this thread. The info you provided spurred me to really research Powersource and was the key to my decision to go with them rather than Ford, etc. Saved me $2k.....😉👍

Hello Slicefixer, I hope the best for you and I am glad my post was helpful.
... full fledged timing job like I am it's a no brainier.....+/- $3k for a complete timing job on a 250k mile engine vs $4.6k for a 0 time complete engine installed with a 3 year/100k mile no fault warranty..... No brainer.... Plus, with the engine out of the way it's much easier to repair 12 year old components and tranny to bring the drivetrain back to as close as new as possible. The $2k savings Powersource vs Ford pays for a bunch of repairs/improvements.

I was driving back to work after a quick trip to the store when I heard a relatively soft pop sound and a piece of metal hit the ground, then lost all power. No warnings or anything before. Sad part is my engine only has 150k miles on it.
Nice little hole in the valve cover near the top of the cam phaser. I can see the chain is in tact, but I'm sure it jumped teeth. The motor turns over without any weird noises, but wont fire up. With my luck I'm sure I've bent valves or something. Saw some oil splatter and very little oil showing on the dipstick.
So a new engine is probably the way to go.
From Powersource....
"To correct the oil clearance issues, the cam journals are align bored and a custom-made cam bearing is installed. In addition, they're built with a high volume oil pump to insure an adequate supply of oil pressure to the heads. Our engines are built with all new valvetrain and timing components plus updated graphite coated hypereutectic pistons."

HV oil pump is standard with the remanufacture.....

I don't suppose it comes with the ignition coils?
BTW, the engine is actually manufactured by AER out of DFW...... They also manufacture engines sold under Ford's logo....😉
