Default WTF is this - another one

On the right front corner of the black trim around the shifter on my 4x4 SCrew Lariat console is a little plastic piece, like a filler or a button.

Any ideas what this is for? Is this the switch location for the ambient lights on a Platinum?

? ? ?

It is an axcess that will allow you to move the shift lever if the battery is dead. It is explained somewhere in the owners manual.

I think it is stupid that Ford makes us read the manual to know normal things we need to know. Why should we have to make the effort to learn on our own? My 94 was not like this.

With all due respect, I think it is stupid that people will drop $40,000 on a truck and NOT READ the manual to learn about their truck!!

I read my manual from front to back the first night I brought the truck home.

99% of vehichle owners with automatics will not need to know how to shift it if the battery is dead, they will just call a tow truck or triple A! The people that know about it need to know or WANT to know about their vehichle!

Bottom line, go read the manual! lol

Go here and you can download a free PDF version of the owners manual so you can read it at home on your computer.

WOW... Maybe they should give us a little person to ride in the vehicle with us and explain everything that comes along?!?!

I did the same thing, and then after I had been driving the truck about three months, I read it again. Amazing how many of the things I read the frist time I really didn't understand until after I'd driven the truck a while.
