Thanks for the link - seems the 2010 doesn't use this. They tell you to pry up the entire console cover. The link on the 09 helped identify what was going on.

Not sure it is a good thing - the console cover will only come up as high as the side pieces on the shift lever. And they don't come off without breaking them


To the guys who just had to post smart-*** remarks, many of us do read the manuals. Unfortunately, model changes sometimes don't match the publications. Thanks to those who did try to help.

I used this 'button' yesterday to get my '09 lariat out of park, since my truck wouldn't start...that story is a whole other thread in itself, something to the tune of 'make sure your truck has gas in the tank if you park on an incline' (BTW I wasn't the last person to drive my truck)

This is the first vehicle I've had that would not go out of park with the key ON and brakes applied...safety feature I suppose (it works!).
