Default Tranny

No real issues for me; once in a while, while slowing for a light about to change, there is a rough shift say from 1-2 or vice versa. I would have to expect that from time to time. It is a six speed auto with a computer that is trying to guess if I am continuing to slow or accelerate.
Funny enough when I am in a hurry, it takes the tranny a few stop lights to figure out that I am in a hurry, it then shifts more smoothly and there seems to be more power on tap. It drives better under load.
Of what I have read on here, most of the issues were with 09s and early 2010s have been fixed with the 6sp auto by reflashing the computer. I have read pretty much the same thing in a Ford Flex forum.

Default Question

What is the purpose and advantage of the adaptive transmission? How long have they neen doing this and is it common now for all models and manufacturers? I had not heard of this until I bought my 2010 F150 and started reading the posts on this forum.

you got the inormation from a dealer.............. thats an awsome choice in reliable information. The same ones that couldn't fix the transmission even though FORD gave them step by step instructions. I would find better information.

So far, not one weird thing that my transmission has done - it's the revised 2011 model though

ya you might be right. but i still need them to do the work (via warranty) becuse i shure as hall wont be dropping more money in it till its fixed! if i did go somewhere else (not ford dealer/factory rep) i might not get a reimbursement but it might get fixed.
