I unplugged both lights and used a check light to see if I was getting any power to the stock reverse lights when in reverse and I'm not getting any power. Weird because when the truck isn't running but key turned on it all works just fine.

Oh gotcha. I thought the plate was photoshopped out but the reflection from the camera wasn't.
The camera flash just transposed the plate to the tailgate.

Too bad the speeding and stop light cameras don't do that too.
My tickets come in the mail looking as clear and perfect as an image from a 4K TV.

Okay so I tested out those Philips 921 White Vision LED Back-up lights. They do make things a little bit easier to see (just barely actually) however I still find myself tapping my brakes to see even better. Aesthetically I think they look way nicer, but functionally I dont think that are really much of an improvement over stock. Actually I feel like they dont light up as much as halogen but what they do light up is a bit more reflective (easier to see).

Verdict: I'll keep them cause they look cool, but I'm going to need dedicated LED pods if I want any real improvement. Let me know if you have any questions about them

I can't blame the lights, that's about the best you'll get with Ford's little reflector for a reverse light.
You gotta admit tho, the camera is like daytime now...No more grainy image.

Uh I can't say I noticed much improvement in the camera. Like I said, maybe things are a bit easier to see, less grainy, but I wouldn't say any brighter. But yah like you said, those tiny little reflectors aren't going to do much, I do like the Phillips LEDs though they have a great color and look sharp. I'll do LED cubes eventually for greater functionality and for launching the boat in the dark

Ya, if you're looking for more light to do things like that... I definitely agree that cubes would be the way to go.

I have the exact setup. The LED's cast an amazing amount of light from this position and light up the house across the street when I back out of my driveway. Amazing lights for the money.

Not sure if it will make a difference in the long run but I first disassembled the lights and ran a bead of RTV around the edges to prevent moisture from getting in. They are supposed to be sealed but I figured a little dab of RTV wouldn't hurt anything.

Default Finally wired up this one

I tried installing a light to my passenger leaf spring, and it helped, but it still wasn't enough.
Finally got around to soldering (I like to do things right the first time ) this bad boy in today. I really prefer that everything "looks" stock for first glance which is why I didn't go with hanging off the bumper..yet.
Should find out tonight how much better it is to see out of the back of my truck/with camera.

I used JB Weld to keep it put, the photos with the zip ties were from the first two days - I used the stock "mounting bracket" to help keep it tight and secure while I drove around with it. Might not be able to tell from the last photo but I removed the nut and bracket.
