Default What is this?

Yesterday I moved my truck to a different spot in the driveway while I worked on the 3rd tail light. When I moved it again and walked back past where it was there was a 4" diameter puddle of light golden liquid about where the rear axle say, in the middle of the truck. Felt like oil, kind of smelled like oil but much lighter colored. I crawled around under there but could find no leak or wet spots.

Gear oil will have a golden color, did you look at the rear axle to see if there is a leak?

Agree with RES4CUE about the color. Gear oil usually does have a distinctive nasty odor though.

Yes I did look there. It was dry as far as I could tell. I'll check it again this morning and look at the ground again. Thanks for the replies guys.

Sometimes the condensation in the exhaust will leave exactly that type of puddle, right in the middle of the truck...

I too have had this "puddle" you are talking about. Your AC also sometimes leaves some water behind.

Not being a douche, but could it be just water and the color and oilyness is from the dirt off the driveway?

No. Not at all. It is definitely oil. Some type of oil anyway. I have not crawled under there again yet today. Drove it for work and just parked it. I'll check it again after dinner after it sits a bit.
