35% is legal here in Ontario. I went with 20%.

Yes, its a little tougher to see outside in the dark, but with the reversing camera, extra reverse lamps, and a little caution, backing up is no prob.

I currently have 15% on all four of my window and visibility is fine at night. I think as long as you don't have limo tint all the way around you should be alright but then again it depends on the officer. Cops don't like walking up to cars that they can't see into (understandably so!) But I always put my windows all the way down anyways whenever I've been stopped and it's never been an issue. This is just my experience though.

One thing to consider is not just getting pulled over but in states where you must pass an inspection at the DMV it might cause issues as well. I use to do tint, but now with three big dogs in the family so it's no longer an option for me or I would still consider it but since I live in WI too (and I know the tint law sucks) I just thought I would point out the other issue that you could potentially run into.

True, good point that I had overlooked. Here in Ohio we don't have those inspections...just send in your money every year for plates/vehicle registration and you are golden!

I just had my fronts done today. Went with 20% to match the back. I may do my windshield at some point, but would likely go 55% or 45% darkest.

Picture isn't the best, but once I get the truck washed and it's sunny I'll upload some nicer ones.

Uh, I write window tint almost every day. I am Motor though and have a tint meter. In Utah front door windows can be tinted to 57%. What most people don't understand though is that your stock glass comes from the factory pre-tinted. When you go to the tint shop and ask for the 50% tinted film after putting it on your "un tinted" glass it drops it to 60 or 70%. Tint tickets are easy, if you can't see the driver its too dark. Used that philosophy even before being a motor though.

As far as rolling the windows down, if its a modded car and all four windows are down I will usually ask the driver to roll up his driver window a few inches to check it. Plus, you look like a dumb *** with all your windows down when its 30 degrees. That's my opinion though.

well, i have been pulled NUMEROUS times just for tint alone. i don't break any other laws while driving. i don't speed anymore and i wear my seatbelt. but i have had many tint tickets in the past. yes, they were my fault because i know my states laws and i didn't abide by them. but come on, if i am not driving all eratic and swerving and speeding, why pull me over JUST for tint? oh yeah, my truck is 20% on the 2 doors and 5% over the factory tint everywhere else. yeah it's hard to see backing up at night, but NOBODY can see in my truck except thru the front doors and windshield.

In my opinion, you're a dick for writing window tint tickets almost every day. Go find some real crimes to worry about.

What the heck is a "motor though"?

And who cares if you look silly at traffic stop w/all your windows down if need be? Can Law Enforcement make some roll their windows up? (I really don't know...i'm not being sarcastic). Just to check for tint seems kind of strange. I mean, if the point of making sure that the tint is not too dark is that police can see inside, and if you pull me over and my windows are down (thus allowing you to see inside) then I don't see what the problem would be. But then again, a lot of laws are quite silly and are followed "just because".
