Default Sync issues

I am curious if anyone else is having this issue. Ever so often the sync button on the steering wheel will not work. My phone is connected and all, but the button doesn't work for anything. I have taken it to the dealership for this once and they told me to bring it back when it wasn't working. So I took it in several weeks ago when it wasn't working and they couldn't figure out why it wasn't working. So they ran a few electrical tests on it and found nothing.

Now they are telling me to bring it back in when it isn't working again to they can call Ford engineering and work with them on it. The only problem with this, is I don't just go and drive my truck for the hell of it. I am usually going somewhere when I do drive it. I told them this and they said well that's all we can do. Not to mention the dealer is approx 15-20 miles away from where I live, so to take it there when it isn't working the next time is more than likely going to be a little out of the way.

Anyone else have this issue with the steering wheel sync button?

No issue here and they can't fix it if you're driving it, as much of an inconvenience as it is for you, it is for everyone else as well when we need repairs, suggest you find another mode of transportation while yours is being examined.

I am having this exact same problem with my 2012 FX4. Although it isn't intermittent, it just never works. It goes to the dealer on Tuesday, so hopefully they figure it out.

Are there any other issues that are also there when this happens? Any patterns that you notice?

What year truck w/ what stereo or display do you have?

I know that on some of the older setups, there were some small issues and glitches with those that have been resolved with software updates, but would need to know what you have first.

Oh I don't have a problem leaving it at the dealership. The problem I have is I have taken it in already when the problem was present. They now want me to take it in when it happens again. Like I said the problem with doing this, is I am usually going somewhere when I get in the truck, as in I have plans already. I don't just go and drive around in my truck for fun waiting for a problem to start.

Hopefully they get this figured out for you. The dealership mentioned they may have to replace the button, but won't do this until they find out what it is.

No other issues at all. The truck is 2013 Lariat with the MFT screen and non Sony stereo. Everything else works just fine, just the button won't work. If I shut the truck off and restart, SOMETIMES this will fix the issue, but not always. The dealer mentioned maybe replacing the module since it seems like it is loosing power, but all other buttons on the steering wheel work fine when the sync button doesn't.

I understand what you're saying but intermittent issues, especially electric/electronic are the absolute hardest to diag and usually fail when we need them the most.

No one drives around waiting for a problem to occur except a technician trying to pinpoint the cause.

When did you buy the truck? There was a HUGE software update released last August so hopefully they have already checked for that, but the update solved a lot of weird and intermittent problems with the MFT and Sync system.

I bought it in February of this year.
