I did this and it didn't seem to help so I just use the remote access to start it from wherever.

I bought the remote start antennae kit from fairway on eBay for 50 bucks. I also ordered two Non OEM keys off eBay not sure on the seller for another 45ish. I paid Ford 100 bucks to cut the keys and flash the truck. They just couldn't figure out how to program the key fobs. So I figured it out myself by watching a video on you tube. It's been a few months now and I am satisfied. System was basic plug and play. Definitely recommend if anyone is thinking about going that route. It was less than 200 Canadian dollars all said and done.

I used this on mine. It helped quite a bit. Added more range than I was expecting. It's still not great, but it is good enough for my needs.

A co-worker had the factory remote start, but it never worked, so he ended up upgrading to the two-way, and based upon his recommendations, and my research on here, I ended up with the two-way kit.

Here is a couple of examples of its range, I was very impressed for it only costing $300 ($250+activation)and my truck is cool or warm when I get to it without having to remember to set the temp before I leave the truck.

I just installed the bi-directional perimeter alarm/remote start kit that I bought from Rogel Ford for $225. He said it would be a 3 minute install. An hour and 3 minutes would be more like it. I had him send me the instructions via .pdf beforehand and I went over the instructions thoroughly. Then when I got home I opened all the components and laid them out on a work bench and followed the instructions step by step. I ended up having to remove the access panels on both sides of the dash, glove box, and dash panels under the steering wheel including the metal panel to have access to do everything. Routing the antenna cable in the headliner was also not a cake walk. The entire process was quite a PITA to be honest. But at least it was all plug and play.

I was able to get the perimeter alarm working. The sensitivity seems weak but there is an adjustment **** and I've only got it 2/3rds of the way up. The remote start apparently requires dealer activation. So hopefully my dealer will know how to get that feature going for me. I mounted the antenna next to my rear view mirror, but there's a separate antenna that gets mounted behind the glove box so I don't understand what that's all about. Hopefully my range will be great when it's all done.

Take the instructions with you, and make sure they program the two way fob AFTER they activate the remote start

Well I went out to the truck this morning and got in it and it would not start. Lights come on and the windows work but the truck will not start. The saga begins...

Sigh.....

Also forgot to mention, did you program the security module?

Here are the steps from the instructions:

Learn VSS to Vehicle (Key Start Vehicles Only)
NOTE:
Make sure the brake pedal is not depressed during this sequence.

15. Press the vehicle's unlock button located on the driver's door. Make sure all doors are unlocked.

16. Put the key in the ignition.

17. Cycle eight times rapidly (within 10 seconds) between the 1 (OFF/LOCK) position and 3 (ON)
position.
• The eighth turn must end in the 3 (ON) position. The doors will lock, then unlock, to confirm
that the programming mode has been activated.

18. Wait for 10 seconds and the remote start module will program itself to the system.
• After 20 seconds, you will automatically exit the programming mode. The doors will lock, then
unlock, to confirm that the programming mode has been exited.

Won't even crank. Lights are on, windows work, fob works to lock/unlock the doors, etc. But the truck will not attempt to start.

After I installed the modules and antenna last night I started the truck and it ran fine. Perimeter alarm worked. Everything seemed OK. This morning...it randomly won't start.

It's funny because I had ordered the Fortin kit and cancelled my order because I didn't want to have THESE kinds of problems. I figured the Ford OE stuff would be flawless. Wrong!

I have left a message for Beau. Hopefully he'll call back with advice. My local dealer has no advice except to "have it towed here and for $105 we'll look at it". Sigh....
