I went with the OEM long range remote start for my 2014 Mustang and the remote access for my 2014 Lariat. Both are great.

If I had a 2014, I agree with everyone else to get the OEM because it's plug and play, easy install, and works. if all you want is the remote start feature, no brainer.

My personal situation is I have a 2006, so I went with a Code Alarm aftermarket system(lots of wire splicing, have to use immobilizer bypass, etc.) but for the older trucks the aftermarket's are nicer because of the range and features. A factory 2006 Ford remote start is pretty beat by today's standards.

IF you went aftermarket, I have no complaints with the Code Alarm. Only reason I'd suggest aftermarket is if you wanted to go "fancy" and get 2-way remote start, use your iphone to start the car, add alarm, add extra outputs(like headlight control, open/close windows and/or sunroof), some even show you the temperature inside the cab, etc.

I do not think so. I was looking into the same thing and had been told no.

Bummer. Maybe ithe remote on the long range has to be able to send a stronger signal that the key can't accommodate. I think I'm gonna go with the long range/security system for 245. Install myself. And get the dealer to activate the system for 55.

My office is on a 3rd floor corner and I can look down and see my truck from there and could only get it to start about half the time. For some people the range isn't an issue, but it was for me. Then over the summer of last year, my truck was broken into. Thankfully nothing stolen, but since they just broke a window and didn't open the door, the truck "alarm" never went off. No noises of any kind. I ended up going with a Viper 5706V which has the 2 way communication remote. It is also USB rechargeable so no need to replace batteries in the future. It starts almost a full mile away (I've tested it) and will immediately let me know if anything is wrong or what the status of the alarm is. It even will show the temp inside the truck on the keyfob so on days like today where it was 29 degrees, I knew when it was fully warmed up inside before I took my 9 month old daughter outside to get in.
This all day long!

I have the same system minus the security part!

Everything he said is true for me also, I love the range and being able to look down to see if doors are locked/unlocked, truck is started, how much time left, how warm or cool the cab is, etc!

Actually, YES. the Long range system includes two keyfobs, but also includes the same remote start antenna that you find in the 100 series.

If you add your own keys with the integrated remote start, and program them according to the instructions it will work, in theory.
I just purchased a key to do just that, it arrives sometime next week. Once i have it, i will be 100% sure that it will work.

When the dealer goes to activate, take your instructions with you, and have them follow them. For some reason, most dealers have issues programming the keyfobs correctly and will tell you it's "not taking' very technical jargon.

Another cool thing about the Remote Access (cell phone app) is that you can also log into it online and unlock/start/etc. your truck from a computer. That would be handy if you locked your keys and your phone in your truck (and your door keypad, if equipped, doesn't work).

I saw that on eBay last night after looking at this thread, that's a good price as it was $290 when I got it back in May
