Default 2013-14 OEM Remote start poor range fix

Just wanted to throw this out there because so many of us have an issue with the oem remote start. I figure it's worth a shot considering it's so inexpensive <$30. I don't know how well it works because honestly I haven't received the one I ordered yet.

Google the part# as it seems a lot of the dealer owned parts places seem to be listing it as a discontinued part.

Here's the official TSB from Ford...

Question

Do you have a photo or diagram of what this part looks like?

Nope. Using the TSB above you know just as much about it as I do.

Great info to know! Mine is LUCKY to work within 20' and have constantly changed batteries too. It just simply sux!
I ended up getting a great deal in the marketplace from one of our vendors & installed the 200 series and works flawlessly and the distance is indeed impressive! The worst part: I have to add the key fob to my keys.... (which has remote start that don't work)!
I will proceed with this TSB with my dealer & if it works well, I'll just put the 200 series kit on my son's truck!
As usual, Thanks, Rnlcomp!

Thanks for the info - mine will work up to 60 yards today - then not work at 20 feet tomorrow? Service lights will flash then the horn honks?

Sounds like you have a different problem, I noticed on mine similar symptoms that turned out to be a faulty hood switch.

I think I'm one of the fortunate ones. I had a remote start added to my 2012 and I can be over 100ft away inside a building and my truck will start. They did route the antenna (very long) up the passenger door molding and across under the front edge of the headliner. It reaches to the area of the rear view mirror. My dealer said he has seen them put in before and the antenna stays coiled up under the dash...that does absolutely no good.

The part # i googled brings me to a site and if i click on the repair kit link it brings me to amazon and 37,000 parts of antenna's. I have the 1 way with separate key fob's for my truck and it has it good days and bad days. Good days was this past winter where i would be inside our communications center a good 100+ feet away inside a concrete building, would just hold up the key fog while watching my truck on the security camera's and just wait for hte lights to come on. Had about a 80% success rate.

Mine will do that once in a blue moon, as well. I'm keeping an eye on this as some extra distance would be great with the changing seasons. I do notice mine seems to work better during the spring/summer....

Thats because you have the 200 series R.S.! It has 1000 ft range, and about a 10ft antenna wire.

The 100 series R.S., which is what is being discused here only has a 2ft or so long antenna wire. So the antenna cant be mounted much higher than the glove box, hence the shorter range of around 100ft.
