I'm a new member but I've been lurking on this forum for well over a year now. I've consistently seen talk of aux switches here (factory raptor switch, random aftermarket rockers, etc). Though I believe the factory aux style switch panel is ideal, it just doesn't seem very practical to install if you don't already have one. I also hate cheap rockers...and rockers in general.

I've been a cop for a few years and my agency has recently switched over to Code 3 brand emergency lighting and I've been thoroughly impressed with their control panels and switches. The quality is extraordinary and the tactile feel is better than any other I've used. Here is a switch panel made by Code 3 with 6 buttons. The stock panel shows acronym lettering but another photo shows the buttons with a simple A-F format (which would obviously be ideal for our application).




I'm still unsure of a good place to mount the controls or if it should be permanently mounted at all. I think I'd lean towards mounting the main box behind the dash and run the control box to a convenient location and use it as a remote or something like that.

Thoughts?

 

I can't help you much with that, but just figured I'd throw this out here because I'm considering these if I install aux lights. But there is a vender on here (KustomFX) who makes up fitter switches for our trucks and they look seriously badass. Like they are factory.

Those actually do look pretty good. I wonder if there's a way to do that plate with the push button style back-lit switches. Thanks for sharing.

 

Why would you mount the main box in the cab? That would mean going through the firewall for every circuit. Assuming most of your lights will be on the front half of the truck somewhere I would mount it as close to the battery as practical. That way the only thing going through the firewall is the cable from the controller to the unit.

I am saving up money for the rocker switches ($160) and the fuse panel option ($130). He wires it all and has the 17ft of wire all beautifully done so all you have to do is install.

If you don't like that, my other choice was the spod universal truck relay.

All of these use otrattw carling switches which are high quality rockers. I know Kustomfx will design it for whatever switch style you want too.

The black ones look great. Those with red lights or even blue to match the FX4 packages would be great.
