Default PATS Key Programming

When I purchased my vehicle; I had one key (key and fob combined), and two sets of a single key with separate fob.
I then purchased the remote start and programmed two additional fobs.
When I open forscan, I see I have 6 programmed keys (I believe the limit is eight).

I don't like the remote start keys I received; and I would like to start over (purchase a more expensive set of remote start keys).
I would like to clear out all the keys stored in PATS; and start over with an original key, adding more from there.

My question is if I clear all programmed keys using forscan; will it ask me to program a new original key? Or how exactly does that work?

You have to erase all keys then program 2 new ones. From there you can use just the new programmed keys to program all the rest.

Great. After I erase all; can I just start off with any two keys.... or do they have to be the original keys?

You just need 2 working keys to complete the programing which do not need to be the original 2. I erased mine when i added remote start and programmed the 2 new 4 button keys and did not add the original 2 keys back. I did eventually add one of them later just in case i lost one. Easy... just make sure your battery is topped off you don't want anything to go wrong during that process.

Perfect, perfect. This is phrased exactly how I needed to hear. Thank you, very much! That's exactly what I wanted to do, as well.

FYI, There is a maximum of four of the IKTs (remote/key combo) that can be programmed and I believe you can add up to 4 more standard transponder keys if needed.

Good Luck !!!!

Thanks Guys. So just to be clear:

1) Erase all keys
2) Program 2 new key/fob combo with remote start (this is where it has the 12 minute timeout per key?)

Will that also recognize the lock/unlock? Or do I need to cycle the new keys in the ignition eight times?

Just follow the programming it will ask for each key to be inserted and will complete after both keys have been successfully programmed.

The security delay is one time only, once you get past it everything flows smoothly. I'm almost certain the fobs on the keyhead will auto program but if not you can always do the ignition key cycle.
