I start with the original key, turn it eight times...here is where the fun begins...the locks will cycle anywhere from the second turn to the eighth turn. I put in the amazon key, same thing, press the button...nothing. I have tried every variation of this process I could find here and youtube, the factory fob always works no matter what, the amazon only starts the truck. I even swapped in new batteries to both keys and checked them with a multimeter just to be safe. I appreciate all the input, any other thoughts?
So you have two different keys and the pats module in the smart junction box recognizes the original key. And in order for the pats module to complete a programming of an original key you must have 2 original keys or at least 2 original keys stored in the pats module. Once there are 2 Original electronics keys stored in the pats then you can go through the cycle a programmed key 8 times to enter programming and then add an aftermarket key. When an original key is programmed to the pats module the remote head is automatically programmed too only after market keys need to have the buttons pressed while in programming mode to store their id in the pats module. When you erased all keys you set the pats module to look for 2 original keys before it will finish programming. Even though aftermarket keys outside appearance look to be the exactly same as oem itk keys their electronics are different and the Pats module sees them as different. I have erased all keys and programmed two aftermarket keys and had no problems but if you ever add one original key the programming will not complete until a second original itk key is programmed.
