I just bought a 2014 with only one key. I’ve purchased a second key and the OBDII cable and I’m about t load FORScan. Can I add this second key without having to delete and re-add the one I have? Also will it have the timed programming or the out code /in code method?

You can add your key without having to delete and re-add the one you have.
Just select the option to add an additional key... NOT the option to remove existing keys.

Also will it have the timed programming or the out code /in code method?
I have ALWAYS used the timed method. I use the latest release of forscan and a $20 obd dongle.
You'll have to wait approximately 12 minutes for the timed-out method.

NOTE:
When you open forscan, and enter the PATS section; it will tell you how many keys are currently stored in the PATS system.
If it is already at 8 (the maximum allowed).... then you will NOT be able to add another key.
The only option here would be to delete all in memory and add two new originals.

That worked beautifully! Feels good to save the $320 the dealership wanted. Now to go read the FORScan thread and see what else I can do!

Thanks guys.

I was able to get one aftermarket key programmed to start my truck, but none of the buttons will work. Went through the process three times, same result each time, no errors from forscan and a key that will start the truck but no lock/unlock remote start. Maybe that what I get for going the cheap amazon key route?

Forscan programs the key to start the vehicle.
The lock/unlock/remote start gets programmed while cycling the key in the ignition eight times.

You'll want to research; but basically you cycle the key eight times quickly and smoothly (from off to acc), press a button on each remote you want to pair, then cycle the key back off.

yep, as josh stated, it takes 2 different processes. The owner's manual contains the instructions for programming the key fobs/push buttons into the vehicle, but you've got to do them all at the same time. You can't just add one new by itself.

I went through both processes several times, once I had two keys programmed to the truck. I erased all keys and went through the programming process. The factory key buttons work without going through the second process. The amazon key starts the truck, buttons still don't work. I start with the original key, turn it eight times...here is where the fun begins...the locks will cycle anywhere from the second turn to the eighth turn. I put in the amazon key, same thing, press the button...nothing. I have tried every variation of this process I could find here and youtube, the factory fob always works no matter what, the amazon only starts the truck. I even swapped in new batteries to both keys and checked them with a multimeter just to be safe. I appreciate all the input, any other thoughts?

Where are you located in Arkansas.

For mine I had to hit the unlock button on the drivers door and then do the eight cycles. The locks locked and unlocked then as I recall and the buttons started working.

Not presently in Arkansas, unfortunately. Got myself stuck in Washington state; when my kid graduates HS I might see about moving back to the Natural state.

I haven't tried hitting any of the door buttons yet, I'll give that a shot tomorrow. Thanks for the suggestion. Go Hogs!
