Ode to thine Sync.
Sync is clunky, doesn't play well with my Iphone, and doesn't understand American English. It has never worked reliably for me and this is my second Sync vehicle. I tried to get my loaded xlt minus the sync and couldn't so of course I had to take it. I have had it upgraded, reprogrammed, and read the instructions over and over and it WILL NOT WORK. Oddly enough, the hands free phone system in our Toyota Prius works flawlessly, understands every command, and works seamlessly with my Iphone and Ipad. I guess that's because it's not based on either the Windows or Apple platform. I really don't blame Ford as much as I do Microsoft and Apple, because my friends who have Droid and Blackberry phones have no problems with their Sync cars. It seems that Microsoft and Apple can't get along well enough to let their mobile devices play together.
Probably one of the reasons I am so disappointed with Sync is because of my wife's Audi. The system in that car works flawlessly, is easier to use, and is able to recognize variations of commands. It is a very smart system and has not even made one hiccup. Realizing that it isn't fair to compare a Microsoft based Sync in an F150 to a refined system in a German car, I lowered my expectations accordingly; but it is still simply horrible. And FYI, I have a Droid X...
Now it has decided to stop playing the iPod about 30-45 seconds after each start up and give me an unplugged message. So I have to tell it to go back to USB and it's fine until I turn the truck off again. I cannot put in to words just how disappointing this system is. Going back to the Audi thing, I have tried switching iPods from each vehicle and Sync has the same results no matter which iPod is used.. I also have not had one issue with my Droid and the Audi; so I think I can safely say I've narrowed the weak link to my Sync system. I am happy a lot of you have no issues, and I truly wish I could say the same. But I can't think of one thing it does right for me.

My sync does everything perfectly with my iphone and my htc android. I guess I got a good sync because my truck has every other issue? ha
I do use a USB for my music if that makes much difference
