Did (started) my side mirror reflector to blinker mod today. I have the driver's side finished and hopefully can get the pass side done tonight. When I do I will take step by step pics and explain it out for everyone. For those of you wondering, (and haven't read the rest of this thread) I tinted my reflectors when I did my 3rd break and taillights. It's transparent black base I mixed up and then cleared over it.

Finished the other side this morning. Here's the steps...

First pop off the mirror, if you tilt the mirror forward to can look behind it and see little tabs that you need to gently pry back while pulling out on the mirror. This is really the only hard part of this mod. Once the top spots are released you can pop the bottom off pretty easy. Don't fakin break it!

Then remove the 4 torx (T20) screws and pop the plastic front of the mirror off.

You can then remove your reflector by prying on the outside edge with a small flat head. Don't break it either or gouge your mirror or you'll be pissed every time you wash your truck. In the same place where the reflector clips in you will notice a rectangular hole. You need to notch it out a bit with a dremel or drill so your wire from the LEDs can run through there.

Now back on the mirror housing you will see the green an grey wires that run to your blinker on the inside. Cut them biatches in half and strip the ends. Cut and strip the wires leading from the LEDs now too. (Makes sure you leave plenty of wire to work with off the LEDs so it's not too tight when you go to put it in place or you will curse for days) twist the three positive ends together and the three neg ends together. Just test them to find out by turning on that blinky blinker. Grab your liquid electrical tape (if you don't have it slap yourself for not being prepared and go get that chit) coat the ends of the wires and wait 10 min and coat again. If you want you can put a third on.

Once it's dry (30 min or so to at least skin over) slide the LEDs through the rectangular hole you notched out earlier from the front of the mirror and pop that bad boy back on. Screw your 4 T20 torx screws back in and pop your mirror back on. Clip the bottom tabs in first and palm the entire mirror to spread out the presure and press in evenly until you here the top click in. Breath a sigh of relief that you didn't break it again and move to the front. Line up you led front to back left and right and stick it in place. Making sure your wire is in the notch you made. Grad your reflector and kung foo grip it and cut out the entire inside of the backside so the light from your LEDs will shine through it. I used a dremel with a little cut off wheel to do it. Stick you reflector back in and start that truck up and go make as many left and right turns you can and show off your handy work. YA BUDDY!

Here are the pics in order of operation

Had a beautiful sunny Easter long weekend. Got the truck and the wife's Explorer washed up and summer rims back on. Almost all the snow is gone around here, then... BAM APRIL'S FOOLS DAY! Woke up to this today. It's melting fast and calling for sun for the rest of the week, thank God!
