^^NO!^^ ...Yes it can be removed from the outside but you will break off the tabs that hold the cap on 9 times out of 10. I have yet to see one removed that way without it breaking at least one of the four if not all of them. I will take mine apart again now and post pics ASAP for you of how it's held on and an other method to pop off the glass. Hold tight

How did you release the tabs holding it in place. Not trying to say it couldn't be done I just have never seen it in 20+ times at a bodyshop done successfully. I always have to pop the mirrors off for the boys to remove it from behind so they don't break tabs. Good for you! Hold on getting pics now...

Ok here we are. These are the pics of the inside of the mirror cap. As you can see there are no clips close to the edge the are all towards the center and I have never seen this removed from the outside with out swearing and breaking tabs.

Now another way to pop off the mirror instead of the small pic tool and releasing the small tabs (there are two at each of the four mounting points) you can stick a flat head screwdriver at three I the four spots where there is a tab between the two little one. (Sorry this is confusing to try to explain with out you guys seeing it so bare with me) the top inside (closest to the truck) an the two bottom spots have this tab. You put your flat head in between the tab and the mirror and gently twist and you will hear it pop off. Do the bottoms first and then tilt the mirror down using the control (if you do it by hand you can pop it back on) and do the same with the top one. Once three are released the fourth should come for just by pulling gently by hand. Clear as mud right? The pics show where I went in from the top the view from behind the mirror as you look in behind and where the tabs are and the spot for the screwdriver to go with the mirror off so you can see it and picture it easier. I hope this helps guys! Good luck.

Murphy, you called it. I popped my cap off just now, and yes I do have 1 broken tab. No idea if I broke it or if its always been that way (bought the truck used). Appreciate the write up and pics, it will absolutely come in handy when I go to attempt this mod.

Thanks for the great write-up and additional pix, murphy. I might just do this now and finish the blinker mod (I used two rows of 9 LEDS each - why not?). Awesome of you to go back out there and take additional pix and help us poor SOBs.

OI literally just finished puttting my PTM caps on.. i figured hell, i know how to weld plastic so i just pryed the caps off and only broke one clip on each. took 5 minutes each to weld.. alot less hassle for me than trying to get the glass off!

BTW the trucks looking great with the drop!
