The hose clamp will take longer to remove than the Master lock. Most thieves wont take the time to unscrew the hose clamp although they may snap the lock.
I've had three Ford trucks with lift off tailgates and never locked one until just recently. Don't want to be searching for a new tailgate.

Not exactly sure how you can pry this off with a screwdriver.

I bought one. Just click it and forget it. Remember where you put the key!

Just installed one yesterday, took 3 seconds, and works like a charm. It sounds like you got a bad one.

Have had mine on over a year now and just went and checked and it's solid as a rock and the key functions as designed.

Same here, I put one on each side and used a hex head bolt with red loctite. That way it takes some time and a little more than a simple screw driver to remove.

The masterlock don't rattle, it comes with Velcro tape to hold it steady.
