Well, I will say, just looked it up and was surprised how cheap it was. Might be getting one for myself and for my dad. Didn't even know about it before.

I don't care if the lock is cheap, the whole point of the lock is the slow a thief down and the lock accomplishes that mission.

Up until now I've just used a hose clamp. Sure they can remove it with a screwdriver, but it slows them down.

Just ordered one off Amazon Prime for $13.31 with free 2-day shipping

The only way to stop a thief from taking your tailgate is to weld it in place.

That, of course, comes with it's own set of problems.

The key locks won't stop a thief. They pop out in like 2 seconds. And as long as the door is removable, well, it will BE removable. By you OR a thief.

Best you can do is make it as inconvenient as possible. Or weld it shut. Or remove it and leave it home.

I have always installed a hose crap right there and always keep my tailgate locked.

You must live in the inner city/ghetto for the factory lock to be insufficient.

You see that small space on the slide piece? Put a flathead screwdriver in it and pry it back. It'll pop open and come right off. It doesn't take much force at all.

the 'ghetto' can be referred to as apart of people and moves with them rather than being a certain part of a city/neighborhood. I live in a pretty nice apartment on the good side of town. other than the landscape and nicer buildings and sidewalks, the people unfournatley have not changed. it's not always 'ghetto' people stealing tailgates or stealing anything for that matter.
