Default lead frame? advice?

I’m looking for some advice, I think finally got to experience the lead frame issue I think. I was about to get on the freeway. When I stepped on it and all of a sudden, my truck sort of went limp, I got the wrench icon on the gauges, and another weird thing happened my mileage disappeared it turned into little lines(like this ---------). I was able to get off the freeway, but it wouldn’t go above 10MPH. When I pulled into a gas station, I turned the truck off and turned it back on and everything went back to normal. Does this sound like the lead frame??

Also, I had the transmission software updated for the recall this summer, I also received a letter in the summer, saying that I could get the lead frame fixed for free if I ever had issues. Is it true? Do I need the letter? because I don’t have it anymore. Will the dealer really fix it for free?

If I have to pay how much does this cost to fix?? This is for a 2012 5.0 XLT 4WD with 71,000 Miles on it.

If the lead frame has failed, I believe you wouldn't have been able to drive normally after.

The extended warranty for the lead frame can be seen if you log into owner.ford.com.

Note that while it would be covered under warranty, that's IF it is the problem. If it's not, then you'd pay for any repair based on your mileage.

If I remember correctly, the lead frame warranty was extended to 10 years, 150k miles. But, like said above, only if it fails.

could it be failing? because i heard of people on the foroum with the issues similar to mine and the issues were intermittent, randomly driving on freeway and bam dropped to 1st gear. they restarted the truck and everything was back to normal.

Generally, after turning the engine off/on, it will drive normally again. But, it will likely begin doing this more and more, so it is wise to take care of it asap.

guero, leadframe costs just over $100, generally. If you can do it, it's that plus new fluid, probably good time for a filter, too. If not, add in labor cost. If you have a code like P0720, it should be warrantied for free. Do not delete the code, make sure the dealer sees it.

At least it didn't slam into 1st gear, perhaps the software recall actually did its job for you.

can the dealer pull the wrench code? it was gone after i restarted the truck, how much would a job like this cost at the dealer? what sucks is that i also had the transmission filter and oil changed at the dealer this summer too.

Code should still be there until deleted with a scanner. The wrench should mean it gave you a code, but sometimes vehicles don't get codes. You could have this checked at a parts store for free, most likely. You'd have to check with your dealer for cost, I can't tell you what they might want. Hundreds of dollars. Some people around here have posted what they paid, you could search through threads about the leadframe.
