You need help with all that at all?



I plan to pick up bottle jack for my truck. Found some that would fit right where stock one is now.

 

While on vacation, on a gravel road on a Utah plateau about 9000 feet up and about 50 miles from help or cell phone access, We had a flat. Look up the manual, find the hidden jack, drop the spare, loosen nuts, position jack per manual, with jack fully extended, about 2" short of Frame. had to scrounge around for a flat stone to put under the jack. Luckily there was a lot of flat sand stone in the area and one piece was just right.
These were not after-market wheels or tires, I ordered the truck From Ford with 18" Wheels and the P275/65R18 tires they equipped it with at the factory.
Would not one expect that Ford would provide a jack suitable for the trucks they configure? I will let you all know how Ford and the Selling Dealer respond to my complaint.

with the 20" grey factory rims. im gonna jack it up
and do a mock tire change right in my driveway'

You would think that the factory jack lifts to the correct
height. Crap. i have bottle jacks, used for tractor repair.
I would hate to carry one around in my new FIDDY,,,

Only thing about a bottle jack is you may not want to store it side ways as most of them will leak fluid.

 

I took the one I stored in my Durango for nine years out and put it in my Ford. Laying on it side, never leaked.

I have had another one laying on its side for eight years in my wifes Rodeo, no leaks.

Just don't buy a cheap one from Walmart.

 

My red torin jack leaked all in my tool box when I layed it on its side. Maybe it's defective or something?

 

Yes, it's defective. If the seals are bad it will leak laying on its side. It also won't jack up anything, because the fluid will just push out past the seals instead of building pressure as you pump in air.

 

Old thread - but I just tried to help out a guy in a small car who had a flat and his jack was busted, so I gave him the scissor jack from my '09 F-150, and the wheels of his car were blocked - and then my jack broke, twisted sideways and collapsed - and this was on a small light car!
