Default Hitches and ball mount drop

There are no Hensley dealers in my area.
New hitch $2970.
Re-manufactured $2295.
Re-man. with the snap up spring bar option $1995.
I assume shipping would be about the same as the ProPride which is $195.

I don't know how or where to buy a ProPride except for the website.
Hitch is $2445 plus shipping $195.

So... $2200 for a re-man. Hensley or $2645 for the PP.

The ProPride has an adjustable ball height stinger, the Hensley has to be ordered with the correct drop stinger. If I miss the measurement shipping will be costly to exchange it. The PP gets great reviews and hitching angles are less critical. Sean Woodruff of ProPride is a member of an Airstream forum and posts regularly.

Now I read about the height of late model truck receivers. My receiver is 21" above the ground and my current stinger centers the ball at that exact height.
What drop are you using for current year TT's? I will make some phone calls tomorrow to find out more info.
We are going to sign the papers on the trailer tomorrow. I won't know the tongue height of the trailer until tomorrow.

What to do...? I just want to buy a nice hitch that fits...

Has anyone had to deal with the big drop stinger? What did you do? What do you suggest?

What would I do? I'd order the ProPride. Tell the ProPride folks how much higher than normal is your receiver. Mine is about 15" to the center of the receiver, so is your truck lifted?

Jim Hensley designed both the Hensley Arrow and the ProPride. The Arrow had a few deficiencies,so he fixed them with the ProPride design. Look around on the ProPride website and you'll find the doc that explains the differences.

You can order a new hitch bar (shank) for the Arrow for a bit over $200.

But then the used Arrow would wind up costing as much as the ProPride. So just order the ProPride to begin with.

Have you looked for a used one? I found a used Hensley in Estacada for $900.00, last Dec. Something to think about. I tore it down and repacked the bearings since it was 10 yrs old. (didn't need it though). Repainted it. Have yet to tow with it though, waiting for a nice weekend. Looks like we have pretty much the same truck, except mines a 10. My TT's 22" from the ground up to the frame. My coupler is mounted on the lower part of the tongue. To the top of the coupler it's 25". Since I haven't hooked up the TT using the HA, I won't know for sure, but just measuring I think I need a straight HA stinger. The used HA came with a 2" drop stinger. I may flip it over and run the TT nose down. Just won't know for sure till I hook everything up.

If I could find a new ProPride 800 for $1,800, I'd write the check today. So I guess I need to spend more time shopping on Craig's List and E-Bay.

I would get an Equal-i-zer for $400 or so (new).
The question is: How big is your trailer?

I'm glad that there are so many choices when it comes to WDH's, anti-sway devices and sway prevention products.
We signed the papers and did the walk through on our 29 foot TT yesterday.
It is very light.

Congrats!
What tongue weight do you expect loaded? And what's your payload? Depending on how many people you have in the truck, and what you plan to load in the bed, this may be on the edge, or over your specs.
At least something to looks into.

I've been running the numbers for a few months.
I'll be close to payload limit and I'll have about 1000 lbs for cargo in the TT.
We "traded up" from a popup camper. Having the TT is about having a comfortable shelter.
We are not going to pack it like a house.

Here are the specs
http://www.forestriverinc.com/nd/def...ies=TTrailers8

I know about true dry weight, dry weight as equipped, wet weight as equipped and so on.
