That is a light trailer for it's size. Yeah, I think you may be close, but okay. No kids I am assuming, since it only has one bed?
Nice trailer. At that size, and you not having the longer wheel base, it may be a good idea that you went with the more expensive hitch system.
Happy camping, it will be lost of fun!

Your wet and loaded TT will probably weigh close to 7,500 pounds, with a hitch weight about 900 pounds. I hope your truck has the 3.73 axle. Your most likely problem will be exceeding the GVWR of your F-150 when wet and loaded for the road. Use the CAT scales to confirm your weights when on the road.

Thanks, flix!
I'll be checking the weights on scales the first three or four trips. There may still be an unattended scale near here. That would give me the ability to take my time, unhitch and check every axle weight.
I am going to upgrade the TT tires and I may do the same on the truck.
We have reservations for five trips to four different places this summer!

This thread has completely confused me. I have a 2010 with 3.55. I have been towing (for about a year now) my 5k trailer with a fully loaded truck (I'd guess another 1500lb including passengers) I use a $500 CURT WDH and sway bar. It seems to pull great for me, but this is the first big item I've ever towed. What justifies this other WDH to be four times as expensive as mine? It looks the same to me, so I'm just a bit confused as to what it actually does.

thanks

"Your wet and loaded TT will probably weigh close to 7,500 pounds..."

I respectfully disagree.
All weights will be posted. High or low, good or bad.
I hope that you will all continue to give sound advice and constructive criticism as the numbers are given.

The head of the hitch contains linkage that places the theoretical pivot point at or near the rear axle rather than the ball. The trailer cannot sway or instigate movement of the lashup. Only the tow vehicle can instigate a turn or move.

You probably are over your limits, at least over your GVWR I would think, with what you posted.
Have you taken your rig to the scales? I usually go to our local dump, works great and is for free. The guys there are always happy to help me out when I pull in and they are not too busy.

I appreciate the advice, but there's no way I'm even close to my limits.

Here's the information straight from the manual.

3.55/3.73 GCWR 15500 Max Trailer Weight 9600

I think he is referring to your payload numbers.
The way you worded the post it sounds like you have 1500 lbs in the truck in addition to the tongue weight. I dunno, let's see if he comes back to it.

True. With the numbers he posted, he will be over his payload / GVWR. Tongue weight of maybe 600-700 lbs plus the 1,500 lbs he quoted as load in the truck is 2,100 + lbs.
Since he said 3.55 rear end, he does not have max tow and / or HD payload. I would think he is over the limit. It's a common mistake for people to forget payload / GVWR.
