What are you going to do if it chips/peels? I know the center caps on my wheels did eventually (after about 6 months) just by the stress of washing it and stuff - by hand and automatic car wash, so I ended up painting them and it's held up much better.... seems like it has the potential to be a lost investment, why plasti-dip and not paint?

Very good question. I went with plasti-dip first for several reasons.

1. Wasn't entirely sure I'd like the new look so if I didn't, I'd just peel it off.
2. I wanted the flat black look and I knew plasti-dip would provide that.
2. Cost vs paint.
4. The original paint is common... standard. Lots of trucks look the same. I wanted something unique ( like KeysSTX stated)

Like you said, I'm not sure how long it will hold up but I was willing to try it out. Fonzy applied several good thick coats and it seems a lot stronger then I originally thought - time will most definitely tell.

Bottom line is, I DO like the way it looks so I plan on keeping it forever. I'll try to patch if that works out, if not, I'll eventually paint it black - hopefully - FLAT black - maybe even Line-X or something like that.

Nice, very clear and to the point! Yeah I agree if in time it starts to look messy, I would go the bedliner route to keep the texture.... But hey you never know, the reflectors on the back of my mirrors have been holding up for a solid year now with no blemishes whatsoever, been through MANY car washes and all!

Fortunately, I live in South Florida so we don't get extreme temps so I'm hoping it lasts a while. I hand wash so the automatic wash machines won't be abusive on it.

My buddy used can spray bedliner - I believe it was Rhino on the interior of an old Jeep he has and it looks AWESOME. May go that route if this stuff doesn't last. I don't usually do these kinds of things myself but the plasti-dip seems pretty easy. Masking for bed liner would be the key to success. I AM a patient person so I think I could do a good job masking and painting.

We'll see what the future brings.

BTW - LOVE your Truck!

Oh yea things like that require taking your time to get the right outcome... but hey you never know I've seen guys plasti-dip their whole trucks so it might just hold up, all you can do is give it time!

The color scheme on yours turned out really nice, I like how the plasti-dip matches the grill, go check out Moody Blue's album and see how he did the grill emblem (same as he did my tailgate) but his truck is the same blue as yours and he plasti-dipped the oval and cut vinyl letters/outline the same color blue to go over it, would look mean on your truck because the plasti-dip blends perfect with the grill....

I appreciate the compliment btw, it's like I always say... "Chrome won't get you home, but black will get you back!"
