Come to think of it, what is a Coastie called? Army is soldier, Air Force is Airman, Marine is Marine, Navy is sailor, but what is the Coast Guard? Or is it just Coastie?

Its coastie! I say soldiers when speaking about all services because regardless we do a job that helps protect this county. I was on a boat that caught drug smugglers, did migrant interdiction and trained foreign navies and coast guards. Also did boardings on vessels to check safety gear and search and rescue obviously. My boat was on also boarded several of the Deadliest Catch boats. Nothing like 30+ foot seas and freezing cold in the Bearing! I love my oil samples being thrown back and forth across the boat! Walking on walls is fun too! I also served in Operation Enduring Freedom. Been completely around the world and many foreign countries thanks to the Coast Guard. Now I am in Key West part of a Maintenance team keeping the boats working and ready to go! Heading up to Miami soon as my son has been diagnosed with Epilepsy and they dont have the facilities here.
