Forscan applications
Hey Gang-
Hope I'm not too far off topic on this one...
Just bought a '14 FX4 SCrew, and the rear door switches seem to have been disabled. They don't set off the door ajar alarm, and the interior lights don't come on when they're opened. It was suggested that the previous owner may have enabled "dark mode" using Forscan for just the rear doors.
Is that possible? Does dark mode also disable the door ajar alarm? I'm hoping it's just a jumper that's been stuck in between the right wires to disable the switches - haven't had a chance to take the door panels off yet to check.
Thanks!

It may be possible to go dark car on just the rear doors, I can't say for sure as my truck is a supercab and I don't remember seeing that as an option for obvious reasons, I have to open the front doors to get the rear doors open.

My truck doesn't have remote start activated, but I plan on it soon once my OBD device comes in.
Anyway, I bought a remote start key and had it cut at Lowe's(free because I brought it in. Crazy huh?). It works well from *one side* to open the doors and the ignition. I had a small issue programming the buttons but finally got it after trying a couple different methods.
Only problem I'm having now is that the key itself won't start the truck. I'm getting a "starting system fault" message when I use the aftermarket key turned to the "on" position.
Will it not work until remote start is activated? Have others had this issue? Could it really be the cut of the key? I'm thinking no because it's turning the ignition.. Is there another way to program the key to start the vehicle in the ignition?
Sorry it's not specifically a Forscan question, but it may soon be directly related to one.

The PATS in your truck see's it as an un-programmed key, if you already have two programmed keys you can program the new one by inserting the 1st programmed key into the ignition and turn it to run for about 3 secs, remove that key and insert your 2nd programmed key and do the same thing 3 secs and remove, now insert the un-programmed key and let it sit in the on position for about 5 secs.
Remove it and try in order the 1st key, 2nd key and 3rd key to start the truck. If the new key still don't work, it's either defective, or you didn't have 2 separately programmed keys, typical when a key is cloned by a locksmith or retailer.

I'll try it again tomorrow and post an update

Haven't had a chance to try it against yet today. I also realized that I only tried half of this. I didn't attempt to start the truck with all three keys after leaving the new key in for 5 seconds. Hopefully that will be it.
