Off topic a bit......
My rear slider had to be replaced, as my latch broke first time I opened the window. They don't make any parts for the latch, so they replaced the whole Slider . My Dealer got Ford to replace it, plus my 3rd brake light cause it was filling up with water.

I think the 2012's have the new design.

I've decided a while ago when learning of this to simply never use the rear window defroster. I use my side mirrors most of the time to see what's behind me anyway.

Same here. But I pulled the fuse that powers up the rear defrost grid. That way I can still use the heated side mirrors but no power goes to the back window.

It's fuse #32 in the engine bay junction box (40 amp). I just popped out that fuse and now when I push the button, just the side mirror heaters work since they are on a different circuit.

Thank you. I didn't look at fuses under the hood, just the ones in the inside box.

Scary.
Something occurs to me though.
Isn't the rear defroster on some kind of timer?
Haven't checked but don't they usually turn off after a certain period of time?
