Default Differentials

I was looking at buying a new f-150 stx 5.0 and was having problems with finding one with the electronic locking so my questions are

1- How bad is having an open differential

2- Are the e-locks true lockers

3- Lets say I have the open diff would it be even possible to make both tires spin

1) It's not bad unless you would like to go off road or tow anything heavy

2) Yes

3) Yes on a 2011+ (because of the upgraded TC program)

1 - Absolutely horrible

2 - Yes. But the term electronic actually describes and (pushbottun) electrically engaged locker.

3 - See below.......

To me, an open diff can mean the difference between loving and hating a truck. Without LSD, one tire spins instead of 2......but....

The F150's come with a very high tech brake based torque transferring system. So an open diff, (which is often a total deal breaker for me), isn't really a deal breaker after all.

Please explain, as I assumed it was just a tc system that applied brake and/or cut fuel.
Thanks.

I don't think he gives a rats *** if a totally different vehicle "Heep" can break the tires loose. Just sayin.
