Default Console to column shifter only swap

I did some searching but didn't come up with much. What I would like to do is swap my console shifter to the column, and make an open storage area where the console shifter was. Like the 15+ trucks have. I love the center console and buckets, but I could do without the shifter. Plus once I install the TBC I'll have less storage space up front.
Has anyone done this?

I think if there is someone who has done it they have swapped the rest of the truck as well. I am sure it is doable. I don't know if you would have to swap out the complete steering column or if you would just need the shifter assembly and linkage with the trim pieces. I am opposite of you and would like a console shifter instead of the column shifter. My last 4 cars prior all had console shifters.

Ya, I'm probably the 1% of people who prefer the column. All of the trucks I've driven had the column as well, to me that's what belongs in a truck. The console shift is more of a lux item and I'd rather have the space for my oversized 6S plus. The wife has one also, and I use an E-cig so storage space plus drinks fills it up quick.

Your not alone. There's zero utility gained by having the shifter in the console.

I think ill look at one with the column whenever I get the chance and see what real differences in the column there are. I'm pretty sure there isn't linkage all the way to the trans (electronic) so I don't think it would be too involved to do the swap. Unless it's the whole column or a different wiring harness. In that case it would be more than I would tear into. But if it's a bolt in and plug in kind of deal I would be alright with that.

I'm pretty sure people have done the opposite. May be able to do a search and see what they found going to the console shifter that will give you a better idea of what is involved.

Wow, seems like a lot to go from jump seat to console. Maybe I'll pull my column apart and see if I have the same connectors as the one pictures in that first thread. If so, it should be pretty easy. If not I guess the whole column would have to be switched....
