Default another column to console shifter project

well here is my project I have going, I have everything except the harness from the dash to the center console, its on order with ford should be here in a couple of days, I have the ambient harness and the module and the cup holder light ring and the related items for the oem ambient set-up, I actually installed the bracket on the trans tunnel for the front of the console, the holes are there, but no threads for bolts, so I drilled the existing holes out and installed 3/8-16 rivet nuts and used stainless button head bolts to, everything lines up perfectly with all 4 holes on the console, so hopefully in another week it will be all done I already made up my own harnesses to run from the steering column for the wires needed for the console shifter, and power for the oem ambient light and etc.,so below are some pics of progress

I really want to do this to my xlt just can't bring myself to pull the trigger. Plus if it didn't turn out factory perfect I would never be satisfied. Great work. About how much $ you gonna have tied up in this?

Probably put on my future mod list although I doubt I would do all the ambient light mods. I love the challenge of these types of mods.

yeah this truck I plan on keeping for very long time and i want to make it the way I want it, I`m electrical engineer by trade so the wiring is cake or me, I had the console shift in my 07 sport trac limited and loved it and was missing it, and with this upgrade I can add the Ambient lighting and the Dc/ac converter and only thing I can`t hook up is the vents in the console i have the parts to do it but I would have to yank the dash out to add the outlet on the botto of main heater housing so maybe this summer when I can ride my motorcycle to work

Seems like a pretty cool project! I would love to have console shift, but do not know if I could manage to do all that is involved in this. You should do a write up or a more in depth description of what all you are having to do to make this conversion!

here are more pics, I received a call from ford this morning at 9 am letting me know that my other harness was in, so I worked on getting it finished up pics are below, I still have to order new steering column covers since I removed the column shifter, need to order 2 more of the along the floor trim pieces, so I can cut them up and use them to fill the small triangle areas, and the little 1" gap above the main console, only things I didn`t get done will do at a later time is the 110v outlet, the AC vents which I may never do,but the Ambient lighting works great, with blue, white, green, red, I have the rear oem leds plugged in, but I didn't have the Bezels to put the rear leds in, but I placed up in behind the Ac vents they shine through the vents, the storage bin LED works great, all of the shifter buttons work the tow/haul, the up shift button and the shift down button, I`m a very happy camper, anyways pics below

I'm wanting to go the opposite route with my '14 FX4. Never really cared for the console and would have preferred the extra seat, but not an option on the FX4s and good luck finding a Lariat that doesn't have the console either. The problem footer me is finding a center seat to match the black factory leather in my truck, or getting the jump seat recovered. If there was someone near me though that was trying to do the console swap, maybe we could do them at the same time, exchanging parts?
