IF it helps any, I have a 2012 XLT with no backup camera and my compass works just fine. When I look in the owners manual it say "IF EQUIPPED". My guess is if you don't see a compass then you don't have one :-(

The compass module and wiring is installed completely in the headliner.

I purchased the module and wiring assembly for the 2011 XL I had at the time but never installed it. Works fine on my 2014 XL.
Module: BL3Z-19A548-B
Wiring Asy: DL3Z-14335-BDB

Lookup and purchase a tube of 3M 04747 Super Fast Adhesive and use it to glue the module to the headliner on the drivers side right beside the plastic headliner spacer. Pay attention to the arrows on the module, they may be there for a reason. I glued mine so the arrows are "front" and "up" (sky)....no directions for install so "I'll be your huckl"....guinea pig.

Run the wiring asy next to the existing that runs the length of the headliner on the drivers side, this wiring asy replaces the existing. I had to cut the corner of the routing of the existing wiring (cut the distance, not the wires ) for the connection to reach the front light...you'll see. Where I could, I zip tied the new wiring to existing as it is glued to the headliner. Very easy install - once you get the headliner down...

Do yourself a favor for future reference and mark the connectors (main connector above the rear window, rear dome light, front dome light) so you'll know which are old and new or tape off the old...you get the point.

Installed it last weekend and it's working well with no dealer '*CU' programming! Wish auto lamps was that easy on the 2014...

Default Compase module wiring

Old thread but thought i would give it a try. Does installing the compase wiring harness listed require complete removeal of the headliner or just drop the driver side enough? Does the harness plug into the bcm or just replace a portion in the headliner? What all does it plug into for a 2013 stx? My headliner is very basic with just a center interior light. Thanks.

Drop the entire headliner, you'll be glad you did.

The rest of your questions are already answered but I'm here already so...
In order:
-"The compass module and wiring is installed completely in the headliner."
-no on the bcm...connects to "main connector above the rear window, rear dome light, front dome light", and to quote myself again..."The compass module and wiring is installed completely in the headliner."

"I purchased the module and wiring assembly for the 2011 XL I had at the time but never installed it. Works fine on my 2014 XL."

Quoting myself again above...I'd be surprised if this didn't install the exact same way in your '13 STX.

Thanks for the clarification. The module looks like this?
And does it display left of the clock like this?
My last questions. Verifying what the module looks like and where it displays. Thanks.

I'm curious as to why anyone would want a built in compass.
Its not like a ship or an airplane.
I have one built in, but never use it, I always know where I'm going. If I stayed off road, I would buy a real compass that does not require a battery.

That's the l'il bugger.
Indeed it does.

T instead of a Z in the part number...don't know if that's good, bad, or indifferent.

@Lee308, it comes in handy sometimes, especially if you like traveling the old fashioned way...no GPS...and you need a quick verification of your direction of travel.

No offense intended, I don't use a GPS, I use a road map. Works every time its tried, no batteries required. Walmart has a great Road Atlas for about $8 bucks.
