Default This cant be normal ?!!

Just found these rust spots on the front bumper of my 13 stx. This is my first truck with painted bumpers and I'd assume they can be chipped from rocks and what not but at 14k miles is it normal to have rust ?

That can happen if you have rock chips down to the metal. You can get chips on your bumper from 25 miles if you drive somewhere they gravel the road...

I would sand the rust off carefully and touch up paint the spots. Prob won't even see them much unless u look really close.

I live on gravel and drive gravel county roads all the time and my '11 has no chips in it.

I have a 13 FX4 same color and while washing yesterday found the same thing. Mine has 6K on the odo.. I plan on cleaning up the rust somehow, touching up and already have inquired with a local shop for the 3M clear bra. frustrating, wish Ford would do the plastic bumper covers, no worry for rust that way.

I live in Canada and every part of the front end on my truck that isn't covered in 3M is all chipped and pitted. Not rusted though.

It's a fact of life. I try not to lose sleep over it.

A gravel road is different then when they put gravel on the road... Up here in the interior of BC on the highway in the winter after they plow it they spread sand/pea gravel mix onto the road. All it takes is one idiot to change lanes in front of you and shower you with rocks and sand... Had it happen to me when I had my brand new fusion with not a single chip on it, one trip down this highway and my hood and bumper looked like the op.

Yup. I consider it normal wear and tear. Maybe I'll pick up a bottle of touch-up paint and fix them but the only spots that could potentially rust is on the parts of the bumper that the 3M doesn't cover, about 3/4" around the fog light opening, and right around the black bread loaves. Not really concerned about it.

I didn't 3M my 2011 and it looked awful after 2 years. Little white spots everywhere.
