Issue: Cannot default the My Ford Sync system (without Navigation) to Bluetooth audio
Some users are having an issue with when they turn the ignition on their My Ford Sync system reverts to Line-In even though they were using Bluetooth audio when they turn their vehicle off. They would like to have the system revert back to Bluetooth audio instead of having to go through the menus to be able to get to Bluetooth audio or use the voice commands. A Ford customer service representative FordIVTteam actually joined in the conversation and gave the reason why Ford made this change (as it would previously revert to Bluetooth) and the best method to get back to the source they wanted.

Can Sync default to Bluetooth Audio?
I knew Sync was bad when I bought the car, but it has been exceptionally frustrating. I can't believe there still isn't the ability to send artist and track names over bluetooth. Every other truck I test drove had this basic functionality. It wasn't enough to keep me from buying the truck, but it's pretty terrible. I also think it's crazy that you can't default to bluetooth audio.
my 14 Fx4 will default to blue tooth audio if that was the last thing i was listening to when i shut it down prior. What is really chapping my ***** is when i plug my phone in to charge (USB) it will stop ALL audio and have have to fiddle with the screen to get any audio back. I usually try to play it via the USB at that point, but it fails more often than not, so i resort back to BT.

What phone do you have? Mine intermittently goes back to bluetooth audio, but by no means is it consistent. I also think it's infuriating that I can't press a button that gets me bluetooth audio and instead have to say a voice command. Comes off as pretty dorky when other people are in the car.
I have an iPhone 6. My problem is I don't know if it's the SYNC causing my issues of the iPhone. On my Titan, after IOS8, my phones would not always work once connected to the USB. This leads me to believe that part of my issue is the phones operating system and not so much SYNC since my Titan was experiencing similar issues.

Did you have an opportunity to update to iOS version 8.1? If so, perform a clean pair after. Check out tip #3 for more information: http://support.ford.com/sync-technol...eshooting-sync

Well I've reached the end of my patience with this POS Sync system. I've had endless problems with it and I have brought my truck in for "updates" over and over again in efforts to fix it. I've had techs tell me "there's nothing wrong as far as we can see through diagnostics so we won't replace it". Well now my bumper to bumper warranty has expired and my Sync experiences have gotten even worse! If I do a factory reset, I get 2 restarts of my vehicle before it goes sideways. Pressing the Media button results in the sound cutting out of the stereo but no audible invitation to dictate and the on screen display shows "voice recognition" (or whatever the terms are) and no voice commands work, it'll time out or I have to hit another button to clear it. My USB stick needs to be removed every time I start the truck now because it gets caught in an "Inititalizing" loop then says "unsupported device" and shoots off to a non-programmed AM channel broadcasting static. If I pull out the USB stick and put it straight back in though and switch back to USB (with the buttons and dials of course because voice commands don't work anymore) it works just fine.
I am so far beyond annoyed with this system that I can't even describe my feelings in this forum. As far as I'm concerned, Ford has genuinely ripped me off. I bought a product and it hasn't worked as advertised for as long as I've owned it. I've had your techs "apply updates" more times than should EVER be necessary. There is no excuse for this unit to not have been replaced. I was going to buy the extended bumper to bumper warranty for my truck until I received this treatment from Ford for what I believe should have been warranty replacement work. If I spend this much of my hard earned money on your high end "luxury" product, I F'n well expect you to stand behind it!
And it isn't just the sync system that Ford wouldn't step up to fix either:
- my "cooled driver seat" pales in comparison to my passenger seat and doesn't even blow cool air when driving on the highway. "Nothing wrong according to diagnostics".
- Blower motor started making extremely loud noise when running, I brought it in, they say "oh ya, that's f'd, bring it back next week and we'll replace it. A week later, the sound stopped and they won't do jack. Guess what, warranty expired and the sound has come back.
- Power folding mirror on passenger side doesn't fold in about 50% of the time. I have no explanation, I can see no pattern other than roughly every 2nd trip from home it won't fold back in (multiple and inconsistent restarts of the vehicle between leaving and returning from home though). Every time I'm in the dealership, I press that button and the bugger folds in and they tell me, "looks fine to me".
This is what I get for buying bells and whistles. I will likely never buy another Ford again after this but if for some reason I should reconsider, you better believe I'll be buying something as feature free as possible and I'll add my own bells and whistles. Screw you Ford, you've caused me 6 years of daily frustration and annoyance (assuming I don't just make every effort to get out of this thing before then). I won't forget this. SCREW. YOU.
PS - if you've found this post while researching for F150 FX/4 reviews online and find this, let me warn you, buy something else. Ford will screw you.

Hi nick. Is there any update planned to send the track and artist name, maybe even album art over Bluetooth to the MyFord Sync? I have a 2014 XLT and I cant see what song is playing over Bluetooth. I saw on the sync support forum that it was planned over a year ago, but I have the latest version and it still isn't working.
Maybe, but I don't know. It's an iPhone 6+ and I also had the same issue with my iPhone 5. Both models support AVRCP 1.3 which is what is needed to to send metadata from the source to the receiver. It worked on the other platforms I test drove fine (Toyota, Dodge, Chevy). It seems like it's more an issue of MyFord Sync not supporting it.
