Easy enough to find out. Run it both ways for a while and find out.

Excuse my ignorance: Is this a pre-purchase question or are the auto-equipped models capable of manual mode?

I have manual only in my 3.5L 2011. I think the heat sucks, expecially the floor heat. I can't speak to the auto heat but can't imagine it being more 'capable'.

Maybe the suckage is due to the small aluminium engine block that doesn't hold much heat.
My wife's VQ35 Infiniti has lousy heat too. Small. Aluminium.
The two iron block 4.7 Dakotas I had in the past were always toasty as can be.
Speculation only, no scientific data here.

I can't speak to the AUTO mode, but my EB will run me out. Now, I do live in Tennessee and it isn't below freezing most days of the winter. I do know that when you spin up the turbos the water get warm quick and heat does appear!

Same here. I haven't had a vehicle that can pump out the heat like mine with the ecoboost. Even gets too hot for my wife....once it's warmed up the cab we usually have to turn the heat down to around the midpoint or it just stays too hot.

If you have the dual zone , yes you can make it do what you want. That is how we ran both of the trucks with auto. Got a cold spell last week and it did not seem to warm up very good. Changed to auto- seems to work/hold setting better.Just checking to see if any one else does the same. thanks for the input.

Yup-I agree! I have never had a vehicle that can blow heat like this one. I live in a cold weather state and even when it is below zero after 15 minutes of driving I have to turn down the heat because it get's too hot. Love the heater!

My 5.0 is pathetic in the floor area as well. Which sucks. That's where I need it the most.

My 5.0 heats well at the floor. That is usually where I leave b/c it gets too hot otherwise. I do have the auto climate system- not sure if that matters. I usually use it in manual mode anyway.
